Charles L. Goodson, 87, joined his wife of 63 years in Heaven on April 30, 2019 with his devoted daughter by his side. He was born in Collinsville, TX to Auther and Effie Goodson, September 23, 1931.
Charles was the smartest man you would ever meet and has worn many different hats. As a master electrician, he traveled and worked in Saudi Araba, Guatemala and Ecuador. Charles enjoyed working with his hands. He was a preacher, a machinist, a chef, and a self-taught master woodcrafter. He would make toys, benches, bird houses, furniture and much more. He enjoyed sandblasting, painting and any type of crafting. Charles was like a sponge- he never stopped learning. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and teaching others until his passing.
After the passing of his wife, Birdie, June of 2018, Charles joined the Senior Citizen Club on Arizona Street. He would attend a few times a week and acquired a few friends along the way.
Charles is preceded in the death by his parents; wife, Birdie Goodson; sister, Sally Brenneman; granddaughter Nicole (Ratliff) Rivers and nieces, Dottie Walthall and Theresa Mendez.
Left to carry on his memories and handywork are his daughters, Sherry Goodson Cox (Wayne) and Judy Ratliff; 4 grandchildren, Michael Ratliff (Paige), Renee Stewart (Sam), Rachel Amaya (Jesse) and Michael Davidson (Brandy). He is also survived by his nephews, Jerry McBride and Alan Duane Walthall; nieces Nancy McBride Kinsfather and Tracy Scott; great nieces, Amber Ridinger, Emerald Scott, Crystal Scott, Dena Strohl and Donna Hall; great nephews Gary Mendez, Nathaniel Mendez and Duston Walthall; 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church, Corrigan, Texas.
