The Rattlers fell in the final game of the regular season, losing to the New Braunfels Canyon Cougarettes 16-1.
San Marcos finishes the season with a 10-17-1 overall record and a 1-11 district record.
The Rattlers struck first in the top of the first against the Cougarettes by loading up the bases with two outs. Maddie Nunez forced a bases-loaded walk to score a run for San Marcos, giving the Rattlers a 1-0 lead.
The Rattlers were unable to score any more runs after the score, grounding out to the pitcher to end the at-bat.
Unfortunately for San Marcos, it marked the last time the Rattlers held the lead.
Canyon responded by scoring five runs in the bottom of the first before scoring another two runs in the top of the second to lead 7-1.
The Cougarettes then scored seven runs in the bottom of the third inning before tacking on another two to end the game at 16-1.
A’Kyia Spillers was perfect at the plate for the Rattlers, going 3-3.
Despite taking their lumps during the season, San Marcos will return everyone from this year’s team and will look to be back in the playoffs come the 2026 season.
