COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT
The city of San Marcos will receive $713,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development for the program year beginning Oct. 1, 2025, and ending Sept. 30, 2026. The city will accept applications for CDBG program and project funding from April 8 through May 8 (at 5 p.m.). These funds are primarily for projects that benefit San Marcos residents with low-to-moderate incomes. An application may be submitted by a public or private non-profit agency, a public housing authority, a city of San Marcos department or other government entity. The city is not accepting applications from individuals who need personal housing or other financial assistance.
Eligible projects must satisfy a national CDBG program objective and should address one or more of the priorities that have been designated by the city: affordable housing, public services or public facilities.

An optional applicant workshop will be held virtually on Tuesday, April 15 at 10 a.m. The workshop will cover details of the application process, eligibility and compliance requirements, and will provide a general overview of the CDBG program.

Assistance will be available at the workshop for Spanish-speaking individuals with limited English proficiency.
All applications will be reviewed by the city council at the June 3 meeting after a public hearing to receive comments on the use of funds. The council will make the final decision on funding allocations at the Aug. 5 meeting after a public hearing to receive comments on proposed programs.
