Robert Sierra to compete in Brew n’Que Festival

Pitmaster Robert Sierra will join an elite field of competitive Pitmasters at the Horse Town Brew n’Que Festival, May 31-June 1, 2025 in Norco, Cali. Sierra is the founder, head cook and face of the S&S Pit Crew, a competition barbecue team in San Marcos. His appearance symbolizes a long tradition of rivalry and respect between California and Texas barbecue pitmasters.

A true Texan, Sierra has traveled throughout the United States and Mexico, showcasing his award-winning Texas barbecue. When he’s not competing, he is a frequent cookbook contributor. As a product pitchman, Sierra has represented Heinz barbeque, Royal Oak Charcoal and most recently, Videl and their Santa Maria-style grills. As a television guest, he has been featured on Travel Channel’s BBQ Crawl and All You Can Meat television series. During Sierra’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel live, he smoked ribs and shared his barbecue-sauce expertise with Kimmel. What started as a family activity with his father and brother in 2005 has grown into an internationally- recognized brand with over scores of Grand and Reserve Championships and media and personal appearances.

“We are honored to have Robert be a part of this event,” Debbie Yopp, Norco, CA community organizer, said. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to gain insight into Texas barbeque. He is a great ambassador and a fierce competitor.”

The Brew and Que Festival is one of Sierra’s most favored contests and a favorite for many professional teams. “I love coming to Norco,” Sierra said. “The facility is beautiful, and the competition is strong.” In addition to taking part in the contest, he will offer quips and answer questions abour cooking and his experience in barbecue.

The Horse Town Brew n’Que Festival is California’s largest barbeque contest. Contestants travel thousands of miles to compete as the event is considered the premiere barbeque contest in California. It has attracted international barbeque competitors as well as celebrity chefs from Australia and Mexico and pitmasters seen on television shows featured on Netflix and the Food Network. The event is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS), the world’s largest organization dedicated to barbeque. The contest includes both adult pro and backyard series competitions.
