60+ Indoor Cornhole | May 6, 1 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Activity Center Who: City of San Marcos What: Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to this sport, join us once a month for 60+ Indoor Cornhole at the. Cornhole is similar to horseshoes except you use wooden boxes called cornhole platforms and corn bags instead of horseshoes and metal stakes. Contestants take turns pitching their bags at the platform until a contestant reaches the score of 21 points. A bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point. Benefits of playing Cornhole for Senior Citizens include increased mobility and leg strength, depth perception and vision, and balance and hip mobility.

Hopkins Street Who: San Marcos Parks & Recreation What: During the months of February and March, Parks and Recreation held seven public meetings and conducted an online survey for the Riverfront Parks Design Plan and the Eastside Regional Park Plan.

We compiled the feedback received and our consultant is currently working to create two concepts and another survey for each plan, which we will share as we enter the next phase of this process. We hope you will join us and provide your input at our two May meetings, listed below.

Migratory Bird Day Festival | May 10, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Discovery Center – 430 Riverside Drive What: Celebrate birds during this fun, interactive festival for the whole family. A live bird “meet and greet,” bird walks, live music, games, partner booths, crafts, activities and a migratory bird obstacle course are a few of the things we have in store for you. This festival is part of a global effort to further migratory bird conservation around the globe by creating a worldwide campaign organized around the planet’s major migratory bird corridors. This 2025 theme is Shared Spaces: Creating Bird-Friendly Cities and Communities.
