Texas State signed 11 players from the transfer portal following the completion of spring practice earlier this month.

One of the most notable signings is the addition of SMU quarterback Keldric Luster. This follows the transfer of former Oregon State quarterback Gevani McCoy who transferred to Temple after spring practice.

Luster appeared in only five games at SMU last season after being red-shirted in 2023. In high school, Luster passed for 3,435 yards and 30 touchdowns in junior year at Frisco Liberty before transferring to McKinney High School his senior year, passing for 2,216 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Also coming over from SMU is edge rusher David Abiara. Abiara appeared in five games for the Mustangs last season and eight games during the 2023 season.

In the wide receiver room, the Bobcats added Lorenzo Johnson Jr. from Texas Tech. Johnson was redshirted in the freshman season at Texas Tech before transferring. In his senior season at Madisonville, Johnson caught 54 passes for 940 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Mustangs. cmcwilliams @sanmarcosrecord.com Twitter: @ColtonBMc
