Who likes menudo? This girl certainly does! The annual Menudo Throwdown will be occurring on the Hays County Courthouse lawn on Saturday, with public tasting starting at 11 a.m. There will be not only menudo but fideo, borracho beans and Micheladas (alcohol not considered part of the tasting). Sampling packs are $5, which include five cups. There is nothing better than a spicy broth to kick a hangover if you happen to have too many drinks on Friday. The event benefits children with cancer. DJ Julius will begin his set at 9 a.m. The San Marcos High School Mariachi band Nuevo Cascabel will be at 10 a.m. There will be a burrito eating challenge at 3:30 p.m.; the winner gets $100. The Little Miss Chiquita pageant (ages 7 to 11) starts at 11 a.m., and the Ms. Senora Cinco De Mayo (65 years and older) starts at 12:30 p.m.
