The Rattlers dropped their first game of the three-game playoffs series against Laredo Alexander, falling to the Bulldogs 4-1.
The loss drops San Marcos overall record 21-9-1 as the Rattlers prepare for a long road trip this weekend.
After a scoreless first inning, the Rattlers found themselves down in second.
Loading up the bases with one-out, Alexander scored first on an RBI single to lead 1-0. Despite facing another bases loaded situation, the Rattlers kept the damage to a minimum.
In the next at-bat, right fielder Landon Munoz caught the flyout before center fielder Elijah Ramirez caught another flyout, stranding all three runners.
The Rattlers were unable to score runs in the second as both teams entered the third.
Laredo Alexander loaded up the bases once more before scoring on a two-run RBI single, extending the Bulldog lead to 3-0.

The Bulldogs scored on a fielder’s choice in the fourth inning, putting San Marcos behind at 4-0.
The Rattlers were unable to find any offensive momentum until the bottom of the seventh in their final at-bat.
After designated hitter Andrew Wilson started the at-bat on a leadoff walk, catcher Colson Geesee scored Wilson on an RBI single, cutting the lead down to 4-1.
San Marcos later loaded up the bases with two walks from Mason Gamboa and Cole Wiatrek with one out.
Despite the bases loaded situation, it was not meant to be for the Rattlers. San Marcos struck out in their next two bats, sealing their defeat at 4-1.
Now on the brink of elimination, the Rattlers must go on the road to Laredo and win two games in a row against the Bulldogs with their season on the line.
Game 2 will start at 1 p.m Saturday from Uni-Trade Stadium in Laredo. If San Marcos force Game 3, first pitch will take place 30 minutes after the completion of Game Two.
