El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail Association will host its annual membership meeting in San Marcos from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 16, and the public is encouraged to attend.
The event will be held at Texas State University in conjunction with The Alliance for Texas History’s inaugural conference and is free-of-charge.
Presentations will focus on Native American and Tejano topics by the Council for the Indigenous and Tejano Community, the Treviño Fort and Rancho by The River Pierce Foundation, updates from agency partners from the National Park Service and Texas Historical Commission and more. Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra will also be honored with ElCaT’s third-annual Public Service Award.
El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail was designated as nationally significant to the American people by the US Congress on October 18, 2004. Spanning 2,580 from the Rio Grande to Natchitoches, Louisiana, El Camino Real commemorates historically significant routes that led to the founding of Texas.
