The San Marcos Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred late Saturday night, May 3, 2025, in the 4200 block of State Highway 123. This marks the second traffic fatality in San Marcos this year.
At approximately 10:46 p.m., officers responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian in the southbound lanes of SH 123, just south of Skylark Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 33-year-old Michael Lamar Rucker of Jonesboro, Georgia deceased in the roadway.
The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was struck by two separate vehicles. The vehicle involved in the initial impact fled the area before officers arrived. A second vehicle subsequently hit the pedestrian, and the driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police.
