The Bobcats’ time in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament was short as Texas State fell to the James Madison Dukes 2-0 in the quarterfinals.

The regular season champs will now await their postseason fate today on Selection Sunday to see if the team is selected as an at-large bid.

The Bobcats fell behind James Madison early in the first inning. With runners on first and second, the Dukes connected with an RBI single through the right side to go up 1-0 over Texas State.

Later in the third inning, the Dukes extended their lead to 2-0, hitting a solo home run in center field.

The Bobcat offense struggled against the James Madison defense, managing only three hits against the Dukes.

Texas State attempted to make their comeback in the seventh inning but were called out on two controversial calls on a check swing strikeout and a strikeout involving contact with the ball outside of the batter’s box.

The Bobcats chances of making the NCAA Tournament are now left up to the selection committee come Sunday. Texas State currently sits with an RPI of 49.

Selection Sunday is scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight.
