Three juveniles, ages 12, 13 and 13, were arrested after reports of vehicle burglaries on May 10 around 9:30 p.m., according to an official with the city of San Marcos. The juveniles face charges of Burglary of Vehicle, Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, Unlawful Carry of Weapon and Evading Arrest or Detention.
“The San Marcos Police Department received numerous calls about three males, wearing hoodies, attempting to break into cars at The Village on Telluride,” an official stated. “This area has been a hotspot of burglary, so several officers responded and immediately began establishing a perimeter while also attempting to locate the subjects. One subject jumped the fence to Copper Beech, where nearby officers were waiting.”
The city official stated that that subject immediately surrendered and was in possession of a handgun, but the other two suspects fled. SMPD established a perimeter and deployed drones and K9 units. A second suspect was taken into custody at the 100 block of Carson Circle. The third subject was found at a nearby trailer park and detained. All three suspects were transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
The San Marcos Police Department thanked the citizens of San Marcos “for being aware of the suspicious activity and helping us locate these juveniles.”
