This is my chance for a shameless plug, and I’m all in. I will be spending the entire day Saturday at Plaza Park for the Mermaid Festival, where I will be selling custom jewelry pieces through my business Shannon Makes Jewelry. I make wax cast and fabricated custom pieces with a variety of stones. Check out my instagram @shannonmakesjewelry to see some of the stuff I will have available (all of the jewelry photos recently taken by @cpaulcphotography). The festival is pretty spectacular, starting with the Mermaid Promenade at 10 a.m. The parade lineup starts at the corner of CM Allen Parkway at Cheatham Street, down South LBJ Drive, cuts over at Edward Gary and down CM. Allen Parkway. The parade is a lot of fun, and you will see mermaids and merman galore as well as many other forms of spectacle. The market will be from noon to 7 p.m. at Plaza Park, and other than amazing custom jewelry, there will be an endless amount of handmade goods. Musical performances will occur throughout the day on the Plaza Park stage by Guy Forsyth, Ace Pepper Group, Wendy Colonna and Blue Water Highway.
