Gulf Trust is calling on community members in Hays County to participate in a state wide cleanup. The effort is particularly important for locals protecting the San Marcos River, which provides critical habitat for native wildlife and recreational opportunities for the community.
The San Marcos clean up is on Saturday, May 17 at 9:00 a.m., located at 444 Pecan Park Drive.
Individuals interested in volunteering can find details about their local cleanup by visiting the Trash Free Gulf Cleanup page at trashfreegulf.com/find-a-cleanup. In partnership with YETI and H-E-B, volunteers will be eligible for various giveaways, including a 10-oz YETI tumbler and a $15 H-E-B gift card, for the first 10 sign-ups at each cleanup. Additional YETI prizes include a Trailhead Chair for the most unusual item found during cleanup and a Camino Carryall Tote for the largest item collected, among others.
Trash Free Gulf, a program of the Gulf Trust, launched their statewide campaign to keep Texas waterways clean on Saturday, April 26, which continues throughout the month of May. The initiative, presented by H-E-B's Our Texas, Our Future, aims to prevent over 800 tons of trash from reaching the Gulf.
