“In Fine Feather” — Bronze — Eric Slocombe

The 22nd Annual Texas Masters of Fine Art and Craft Invitational Show will be held Friday, May 23, through Sunday, May 25, as 25 of the finest artists in Texas fill the ballrooms of the YO Ranch Hotel in Kerrville with their award-winning artwork. Three talented San Marcos artists will be included in the annual event.

Eric Slocombe will exhibit his award-winning bronze sculpture and demonstrate sculpting during the show. Slocombe’s work is also currently featured in the “42nd Annual Roundup Exhibition & Sale” at the Museum of Western Art that will run through June 8 in Kerrville. Slocombe will also be demonstrating his clay-modeling techniques throughout the weekend.

Additionally, Denise and Diana Steinhagen are a team of talented silversmiths who will be displaying their innovative contemporary jewelry designs. Denise and Diana work independently of each other while using fabrication techniques to create earrings, pendants and bracelets that are noted for their range of surface textures set with a variety of brightly colored gemstones.

Each of the invited exhibitors has spent years mastering their chosen medium, from oil painting, watercolors, photography to ceramics, glass, gourds, fiber, jewelry, woodworking and sculpture.

According to Dan Baker, who, along with his wife, Linda, organizes the annual show, “What’s unique about the Texas Masters is that it’s an artist-run show. Each artist in the group has been recommended by the other artists, so we’ve all shown together in the past. It’s really refreshing to set up with artists that have earned the respect of their peers. One can’t look at their artwork without appreciating the dedication and skill that went into creating it.”

The YO Ranch Hotel is located at 2033 Sidney Baker (Hwy 16), half mile from exit 508 of IH 10, on the southwest corner of Sidney Baker and Hwy 534. The show hours will be Friday, 10 a.m. -7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is free.
