FLAG RETIREMENT
Air Force Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps along with VFW Post 3413, Amvets and the GI Forum participated in a flag retirement ceremony at San Marcos High School. According to Aaron Brown, VFW Post 3413 quartermaster, a tattered and worn flag must be retired properly with a special ceremony before being burned. Last year during the ceremony, there were 250 flags retired, but 680 flags were retired this year. Flags ready for retirement can be dropped off at the VFW any time, located at 1701 Hunter Road.
