It’s Memorial Warbird Rides Weekend at the Commemorative Air Force Central Texas Wing, located at 2249 Airport Drive, and I can’t think of a better way to spend Memorial Day weekend. If you haven’t been there, you are truly missing out. It’s a chance to see history in action as they’ve restored a ton of World War II planes, and you can ride in them for a fee. The event will occur both Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The iconic warbirds available to take for a spin include: That’s All, Brother – the C-47 that led the D-Day invasion, Yellow Rose – a fully restored B-25 Mitchell bomber similar to the B-25s that flew in the Doolittle Raid over Tokyo, Lone Star Lady – a C-45, AT-6 Texan – the legendary WWII advanced trainer and BT-13 Trainer – the classic “Vultee Valiant.” Book your ride at this link commemorativeairforcecen traltexaswing.thundertix.com/ events/246574. If you are afraid of heights, just go check it out; watching those things take off is a rather magical experience.
