An 18-year-old male from the San Marcos area was shot and killed early Sunday morning, according to a statement from the Uhland Police Department.
Police responded to a residence on Rocky Road, which is off of Highway 21 outside of the San Marcos City Limits.
The individual, whose name was not released as of 7 p.m. on May 25, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Uhland Police said that the suspected shooter, who is unidentified, fled the scene before officers arrived. The case is still under investigation.
Social media accounts related to the victim and San Marcos CISD have identified the deceased as a San Marcos High School graduate of 2025, which held graduation on Friday, May 23. The San Marcos Daily Record is withholding the name of the deceased until it is officially released.

At approximately 1:00 a.m. on May 25, 2025, the Uhland Police Department responded
to a report of a shooting that occurred outside a residence on Rocky Road. Preliminary investigation indicates that an altercation took place, during which a firearm was produced by an unidentified individual. A 17-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The suspect fled before officers arrived. The victim’s identity is being withheld for this time. No arrests have been made at this time.
The investigation is ongoing, and we have requested the assistance of the Texas Rangers. No further information is available at this time. Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to contact the Uhland Police Department.
