Suspect in shooting death of San Marcos High School graduate booked for murder

Andrew Farias, an 18 year-old recent graduate of San Marcos High School, was shot and killed outside of a residence on Rocky Road, which is off of Highway 21 outside of San Marcos city limits, at approximately 1 a.m. on May 25, according to a statement from the Uhland Police Department. The suspect Chad Lee-Gardner was booked into the Travis County Jail on a warrant for the charge of murder around 12:12 a.m. on May 27.

The preliminary investigation indicates that an altercation took place, during which a firearm was produced by Lee-Gardner. Farias sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Lee-Gardner fled the scene before officers arrived.

The San Marcos High School Football Team Chaplain Pastor Mark Carrillo, in collaboration with the Rattler Football Booster Club, will be holding a vigil for Andrew Farias on Tuesday, May 27 at 8:30 p.m. at Toyota Rattler Stadium.
