FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
Aiyana Coleman came to Texas State as a transfer from Texas A&M and ended her season with one of the most historic batting performances in the history of the Bobcat program, making her this year’s Collegiate Female Athlete of the Year.
At the plate, Coleman broke both the school record for most home runs (17) and RBIs (55) in a single season while maintaining a batting average of .421. Coleman is just the third Bobcat in program history to maintain a batting average of over .400 following Kristen Zaleski and Sara Vanderford.
Coleman also set a new school record for slugging percentage at .893, just the second Bobcat player behind ArieAnn Bell to have a slugging percentage higher than .800.
Coleman’s offensive output helped lead the Bobcats to the 2025 Sun Belt regular season title which included sweeping Louisiana Monroe on the road after the Warhawks entered the series having lost no home games.
The junior from College Station’s offensive prowess was put on display against Louisiana in the most unusual circumstances. In the three-game series against the Cajuns, Louisiana opted to intentionally walk Coleman eight times.
Coleman was named both the Sun Belt Player of the Year and Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year, becoming the first Bobcat player to win both awards in a single season. Coleman was also named All Region 3rd-Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
