The city of Kyle marked a major milestone on Wednesday, May 7 as the first tranche of water from the Alliance Water Segment 1C pipeline began flowing into the city’s water supply system.
This long-anticipated delivery brings water sourced from the Carrizo Wilcox Aquifer to Kyle, reinforcing the city’s commitment to securing sustainable, long-term water solutions for its growing community.
“This is a historic moment for the city of Kyle. After years of planning, perseverance and hard work, we are proud to bring an additional longterm, sustainable water supply online for our community,” city of Kyle Mayor Travis Mitchell said. “This is an investment in the reliability and resiliency of our water supply as well as our future.”
The initial delivery will provide 1.73 million gallons per day and increase the city’s water capacity by 26.7%, with further expansion expected to reach 3 million gallons per day by 2027.
The Segment 1C pipeline is part of Phase 1B of the broader Alliance Water project, a regional partnership formed in 2007. Alliance Water is a collaborative effort between the cities of Kyle, Buda and San Marcos, along with the Canyon Regional Water Authority.
The organization was created to develop and manage a shared water supply project to meet the needs of Central Texas communities for generations to come.
This latest milestone reflects years of planning, coordination and investment in regional infrastructure designed to ensure water security for the city of Kyle.
