SAN MARCOS PUBLIC LIBRARY
Following a competitive nationwide search, the city of San Marcos has selected Natalie McAdams to serve as the next Library Director. McAdams will oversee programs and services at the San Marcos Public Library, supporting its mission to create opportunities for residents to explore and expand interests, improve academic, work and life skills, and enhance enjoyment of leisure time through reading and lifelong learning.
McAdams has nearly 13 years of experience in developing library programs, administering services, implementing strategic plans and overseeing operations. Throughout her career, McAdams has demonstrated expertise in fostering innovation, collaboration and strengthening partnerships with community stakeholders.
“Natalie brings a strong commitment to public service and a passion for fostering accessible, welcoming spaces for all,” San Marcos Assistant City Manager Joe Pantalion said. “Her experience leading dynamic teams and building collaborative community partnerships will be a tremendous asset to San Marcos.”
McAdams has worked for the city of Temple, Texas since 2021, first as Library Director and then as Director of Libraries and Museums. In those roles, she oversaw library branches, museum facilities and special collections with a focus on aligning services with community needs and expanding digital resources. Prior to that, she served as Library Director for the city of Lake Dallas and as a Library Branch Manager in Dallas.
“I am honored to join the city of San Marcos and lead a library that plays such a vital role in the community,” McAdams said. “Libraries are essential educational and cultural hubs, and I’m excited to collaborate with the talented team here to grow programs, services and partnerships that reflect and serve the needs of this dynamic and diverse city.”
McAdams earned a Master of Science in Information Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and English from the University of North Texas. She will begin her role at the San Marcos Public Library on June 2.
