Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce congratulates its graduates

Congratulations Graduates! As the graduates from all of our local schools enter into the next step of their journey through life, the chamber staff wishes each of you well and great success in all of your future endeavors.

LEADERSHIP SEGUIN GRADUATION

Two weeks ago, we graduated eight from the Leadership Seguin program. The eight individuals completed nine months of coursework, a fundraiser and a community project. To say that this group has had some huge accomplishments during their journey is an understatement. During the course, they visited city and county officials, toured manufacturing facilities, spent some time with healthcare providers and learned more about our public schools and colleges/universities. As the group planned their community service project, the team really came together and selected a project that will give back to the community for years – they selected to erect a shade pavilion in Manual C. Castilla Park. They finished their project just in time for their graduation last week, and the project is amazing. A ribbon cutting for the project located at 2402 N. Guadalupe Street was held on May 27. Congratulations to these graduates who now join the more than 300 Leadership Seguin Alumni.

SAYLA

Speaking of leadership – the Seguin Area Youth Leadership Academy has selected 11 high school incoming juniors and seniors from Guadalupe County to participate in the 2025 program. The SAYLA program is five days of intense leadership training and tours that culminates in a class community service project. The project accomplished by the SAYLA Class of 2024 was an all-abilities sidewalk that was installed at Seguin’s Veterans Park. Their SAYLA program orientation was also last week and what a great group of young adults. The Academy starts the week of June 22, and we cannot wait to see what the Class of 2025 can accomplish during their week of leadership training!

SAYLA ALUMNI ACCOMPLISHMENTS

SAYLA has had numerous graduates through the years who have had some awesome accomplishments. The SAYLA Class of 2023 and 2024 has had two graduates who will be added to those who have had awesome accomplishments; Valedictorian for Lifegate Christian School and Salutatorian for Seguin High School. Congratulations!

TEXAS WOMEN OF INFLUENCE CONFERENCE

The Texas Women of Influence Conference will be held on July 31. The conference theme this year is “Unleashing Your Inner Superhero,” and the Chamber’s Women’s Council has an excellent line up of speakers for this year featuring Seguin’s own Melissa Vega from News 4 / Fox San Antonio who will be the emcee for the 2025 event. The other conference speakers will be revealed in the next couple of weeks – and you will not be disappointed with the line-up. There are limited tickets for the conference and conference sponsorships are currently available at the Chamber website at seguinchamber. com/events or you can call the Chamber Office at 830-379-6382. More information and speaker release information is also available from the Texas Women of Influence Facebook and Instagram pages.

CHAMBER LUNCHEON

Finally, the last Chamber Luncheon until they return in September is June 4 at the Seguin Events Center. The topic of the luncheon is State of Higher Education where all of our regional higher education partners will be part of a panel discussion. If you have a high school student who is graduating, a high school student who has not made a decision what they are doing after high school or if you are looking to expand your education or training for a new career – then this luncheon is for you. There are still tickets for the luncheon available and can be obtained from the Chamber Office.
