In the district opener against Buda Johnson, Vasquez threw a complete game, allowing just three hits, one earned run, five walks and striking out nine batters in the Rattlers 3-1 win over the Jaguars.
Vasquez followed up his performance against Buda Johnson by throwing back to back no-hitters against both Schertz Clemens and East Central.
Earning First-Team All-District honors is junior outfielder Landon Munoz. Munoz finished the season with a batting average of .301 with 27 hits and 17 RBIs. Munoz also led the district in triples with six.
Five Rattler baseball players were named Second- Team All-District. Pitcher Cole Wiatrek, catcher Colson Geesee, outfielder Elijah Ramirez, utility player Andrew Wilson, and utility-fielder Mason Gamboa all earned second team district selections.
Joining their teammates are seven Rattler players that were named Honorable Mention. Infielder Juan Munos, infielder Charlie Helgeson, pitcher Zehavi Hernandez, pitcher Ronaldo Mendez-Soto and outfielder Jyuan Alonso were all named Honorable Mention to round out the All-District Selections.
With the Rattlers graduating just two senior starters in Hernandez and Gamboa, San Marcos will look to be in contention for a district championship next season.
In softball, six different Rattler softball players earned all-district honors. Making first-team all-district is freshman shortstop A’Kyia Spillers. Earning second team all-district honors is the duo of third baseman Emalyn Martinez and catcher Arianna Flores. Earning honorable mention are outfielder Kendra Robledo, outfielder Keziah Rios and outfielder Selena Silva.
With the Rattlers returning all their starters back from last season, San Marcos hopes to improve from the offseason and make a return trip back to the playoffs.
