Cristal Lopez, the Youth Services Director from Community Action, Inc., with the support of the Core Four Partnership, hosted the Youth Task Force Recognition Night at Dunbar Recreation Center to celebrate the end of the school year and honor those that committed to join and complete service hours with the Youth Task Force. The Youth Task Force President Haley Aguilar and Vice-President Sophia Robertson, facilitated the evening’s events which included: 2024-25 Recap, Special recognition to HCWC for providing bystander intervention, self-compassion, and everyday consent curriculum during YTF meetings as well as member recognition. San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson, along with SM Parks and Recreation Assistant Director Jessica Ramos, presented certificates of service to the 17 members of the Youth Task Force. They also provided stoles to the seven graduating seniors. There were also other Core Four Partner representatives in attendance for support, including San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District At-Large Trustee Miguel Arredondo and San Marcos Council Member Lorenzo Gonzalez.
The 17 youth board members, ranging from 8th grade to high school seniors, have served a collective and impressive 26 years.
