Active Balance | June 10, 12 - 1 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Activity Center What: CHRISTUS HomeCare will now conduct Active Balance once a month. This class will help you improve your safety and decrease your risk of falls. This class is for those 60 and above, at all activity levels. It will improve your confidence, strength and flexibility while increasing mobility. Participants need to wear loose, comfortable clothing with rubber-soled shoes.

Last Chance Forever - Birds of Prey | Wednesday, June 11, 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Public Library Who: Free ticket required. Last Chance Forever, a raptor rescue and conservancy organization, brings birds of prey to the library to educate about the importance of raptors in our ecosystem. For ages 3 and up. Pick up your free ticket starting June 2.

60+ Monthly Bingo | June 11, 2 - 3 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Activity Center What: Will you be the next one to shout “BINGO?” You’ll never know unless you join us for our monthly Bingo program at the San Marcos Activity Center. Each month, we provide Bingo with great prizes and light refreshments. Participants are allowed to play three bingo cards each game.

60+ S.M.A.S.H. Bowling Social | June 12, 2 - 4 p.m.

Where: Sunset Bowling Lanes, 1304 HWY 123 What: The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation and Sunset Bowling Lanes are hosting a Bowling Social each month, on Thursday afternoons.

These bowling events are for ages 60 + Cost: The fee for this event is $6/ person, which includes shoe rental and two games of bowling. The Art of Identity: A Queer Composition | June 14, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Public Library, Meeting Room A Who: Broke Thespians Theatre Company What: Witness identity as process, protest, and artform.

Create a self-portrait or a vision board using collage and found objects as a reflection of your identity. Materials provided by Broke Thespians but patrons are encouraged to bring their own treasures to make it personal.

Registration/Cost: This event is FREE and no registration required.

Silver Singers Group Sing-Along and Karaoke | June 17, 2 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Activity Center What: Calling all music lovers ages 60 and above. You’re invited to join the karaoke crew for a harmonious blast or belt out a solo showstopper. We changed up our karaoke program to include group sing-along songs as well as solo performances and now we are changing it up to include all adults, aged 18 and up. So, if you suffer from stage fright and are not ready to grab the mic, that’s okay, you’re welcome to join us anyway and participate in some group sing-alongs.

Not only will you have a great time, but research has shown that singing is also good for your health by boosting memory and your mood. Listening to and performing music reactivates areas of the brain associated with memory, reasoning, speech, emotion, and reward.

60+ Super Senior Jeopardy | June 18, 1 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Activity Center What: What is a fun, trivia-based program offered to those 60 and above?

If you answered Super Senior “Jeopardy,” you would be correct. This group social will include playing a “Jeopardy like” trivia game from JeopardyLabs. com. Participants will take turns choosing the category and amount of the question. Each participant will have the opportunity to answer each question. For every correct answer, participants will be awarded the “amount” of the question. For every incorrect answer, the “amount” of the question will be deducted from the participant’s score. Points are not awarded or deducted for unanswered questions.
