San Marcos Police Department responded to a fatal auto-pedestrian accident at SH 123 and Clovis Barker Road in the early morning hours of June 6.
“A man riding a northbound bike on Highway 123 was struck by a Toyota Prius traveling in the same direction. The cyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. The bike had reflectors but no lights, and the rear reflector may have been blocked by items he was carrying,” an official with the city of San Marcos stated. “The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.”
SMPD closed the highway for several hours, but it was open for use by 9:40 a.m.
