For the second year in a row and for the third time in the last four years, the Bubas Cup is coming back home to San Marcos.

The Vic Bubas Cup, awarded to the top athletics department in the Sun Belt Conference, was awarded to Texas State who scored 152.5 points during the 2024-2025 athletics season, beating Arkansas State who scored 139 points and finished in second place.

“Winning back-to-back Bubas Cups is a significant achievement and a reflection of the dedication from our student-athletes, coaches, support staff, Texas State President Kelly Damphousse and university administration and our loyal Bobcat fans,” Texas State Director of Athletics Don Coryell said. “We take pride in competing at the highest level in the Sun Belt Conference and nationally, and our commitment to excellence continues to grow. While we celebrate this season’s success, we’re already focused on the work ahead.”

The Bobcats started the season off strong with Texas State volleyball capturing the Sun Belt Conference Tournament title and Texas State soccer advancing to the championship final of the conference tournament.

Texas State football then made the postseason for the second year in a row, playing in the First Responder Bowl in addition to placing third in the overall conference standings.

Texas State Women’s Tennis placed tied for third place in the conference standing, the highest in program history.

The Texas State Women’s Track and Field team continued their dominating run, winning both the conference Indoor and Outdoor conference titles while the Texas State Men’s Track and Field team finished second at the Indoor meet but won the Outdoor conference title.

Texas State softball won their Sun Belt regular season conference title for the first time since 2018 despite having to replace over half of their starting roster from last season.

Going into the 20252026 season, Texas State will look to become the first team since South Alabama in 2017 to win three consecutive Bubas Cup Championships in a row.
