San Marcos Police, Fire Department and EMS responded to an accident involving a semi-truck near the intersection of SH 80 and the southbound frontage road at approximately 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday, according to an official with the city of San Marcos. The truck driver is in custody and will face charges for leaving the scene of an accident.
"The crash is still under investigation, but initial information appears to show the driver of the semi-truck failed to control speed and rear ended four vehicles that were stopped at a red light,” the official stated. “The truck driver continued driving and was later stopped by police.”
Two people were transported to Dell Children’s Hospital, one to Ascension Seton Hays and one to Christus Santa Rosa. The truck driver was one of the four people transported.
