Sophomore Lara Roberts captured the bronze medal in the hammer throw at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Roberts finished with a throw of 231 to finish in the top three, becoming the second Bobcat hammer thrower to bring home a medal, following Elisabet Runardottir last season who won the gold medal. Roberts is coming off a first place finish at the Sun Belt Outdoor Track and Field Championships and a fourth place finish at the NCAA West Regional.
Junior Melanie Duron finished 18th overall in the shot put, throwing 545.25. Duron took home first place at the conference meet.
Junior Chris Preddie placed 14th overall in the long jump competition, jumping 25-even. Preddie took first place in the long jump at conference and 2nd place at regionals.
Preddie will compete in the triple jump competition while the high jump duo of Aiden Hayes and Kason O’Riley will look to make the podium before the time of press.Updates on their results as well as the feature stories of both Roberts, Hayes and O’Riley will be covered in the upcoming Wednesday paper.
