Wimberley musicians tune up for Make Music Day 2025

Editor’s Note: This press release was sent by the city of Wimberley. The city of San Marcos will be having its own Make Music Day festivities. Learn more about that in the What’s Happening This Weekend section of today’s issue.

On Saturday, June 21, Wimberley will join more than 2,000 cities worldwide to celebrate Make Music Day, a free, all-day music festival marking the summer solstice. From 10 a.m. until late evening, ten-plus venues across town will host live performances and pop-up music-making sessions open to both seasoned pros and aspiring beginners.

Inspired by France’s Fête de la Musique, Make Music Day unites communities through song — strengthening social bonds, easing stress and lifting spirits. “Wimberley has long been a haven for musicians and music lovers,” said Michele Woods, Director of Tourism. “We’re thrilled to welcome everyone — whether you play, sing or simply enjoy listening — to be part of this global celebration.”

Visit makemusicday. org/wimberley for the complete, up-to-theminute schedule of performances, workshops and jam sessions. All events are free, family- friendly and open to the public.

Held annually on June 21 to coincide with the summer solstice, Make Music Day is the international music festival inspired by France’s Fête de la Musique. Presented by The NAMM Foundation and coordinated by the Make Music Alliance, the event spans thousands of free concerts and participatory music-making activities across over 150 U.S. cities and multiple states, including Texas.
