The public is invited to HOME Center’s fundraising event on Saturday, July 12 at Wake the Dead Coffeehouse. Thanks to contributions from local artists and vendors, this event will feature live music from Attic Ted, Emily Ash, Molly Hayes, Jack Henry and Texas State’s Gamelon Lipi Awan Orchestra.
Donations earn participants the chance to win prizes from Classic Tattoo, Vagabond Vintage Clothes, Rhea’s Ice Cream, Wild Rice Studio, Jo’s Cafe and many more. Face painting will be available from Leah Paints Faces and free beer (while supplies last) will be provided by Middleton Brewing. Wake the Dead will offer profit sharing on drinks in support of the fundraiser.
Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with raffle entries and face painting. Musical guests will begin taking the stage at 6:30 p.m. with the Gamelon Lipi Awan Orchestra. Each performer will play 30-minute sets with Molly Hayes at 7 p.m.,Jack Henry at 7:30 p.m., Emily Ash at 8 p.m. and Attic Ted at 8:30 p.m.
The HOME Center (Homeless Outreach, Mitigation and Emergency Center) is a nonprofit organization that unites community efforts to comprehensively prevent and address homelessness and educate the community about it as an issue. The HOME Center prioritizes finding permanent housing in order to break the cycle of homelessness.
As a Housing First Project, HOME Center ensures individuals and families receive assistance with obtaining housing first. Housing is central to ensuring households are stable and can be successful when seeking employment opportunities, medical assistance, mental health services, drug/alcohol dependency resources and other supportive services that will ensure households remain in stable permanent housing.
