NATIONWIDE PROTEST
Hundreds gather on square, across nation to oppose current administration
The courthouse lawn was completely filled with hundreds of people Saturday, June 14 protesting the current administration’s policies and what they consider to be authoritarian behavior. There were 2,100 No Kings Protests that occurred across the nation and coincided with President Donald Trump’s birthday, according to the No Kings website.
An official with the city of San Marcos said there were no arrests or reports of property damage during the protest, which was a peaceful demonstration.
“There was an incident that occurred after the official protest concluded involving a counter-protester who was briefly detained. The individual was not arrested, and the incident remains under investigation,” an official with the city stated. “The San Marcos Police Department’s approach focused on ensuring the safety of everyone involved and protecting property, while also supporting the community’s right to peacefully exercise their First Amendment rights.”
