Fredonia Ink Publishing announces the release of “For Every Evil Under The Sun,” which features stories from Alexandra Burt, V.P. Chandler and Laura Oles, who is a San Marcos resident and graduate of Texas State University. This collection is the first release for Fredonia Ink Publishing with additional titles scheduled for 2026. The authors will discuss the craft of short stories, women writing crime fiction and this collection of stories at Vintage Bookstore and Wine Bar, located at 1101 East 11th Street, Austin, on July 18 at 7 p.m.
“For Every Evil Under The Sun” is an eclectic and experimental collection with three distinct authors showcasing three individual storytelling styles. Scott Montgomery, CrimeReads reviewer and co-editor of Austin Noir (Akashic Books), stated, “What you are about to read are three talented writers taking the dark torch and running with it.”
Each author focuses on a particular theme.
Alexandra Burt, best known for her psychological thrillers, explores themes of female desperation and moral ambiguity.
“I create stories that blur with reality where silence conceals generational harm, and survival demands uncomfortable choices, set against richly atmospheric backdrops,” Burt said.
VP Chandler, with a gritty sense of place and a deep undercurrent of reckoning, blends western, crime and horror. She stated that her stories “pursue revenge and justice with generational echoes of the past.”
Laura Oles, whose stories end the collection, explores complicated family dynamics and the conditions of unconditional love.
“I’m continually drawn to stories that showcase the heights and depths we are willing to go to stay connected to family, even when it ruins us,” Oles said.
