Artist Gwendolyn Hustvedt presents Groundwork, a solo exhibition of silk banners exploring underground ecosystems, on view from July 1 through Sept. 30, at the River of Life Gallery in the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, located at 1215 East Court Street in Seguin.
The Groundwork series features 15 large-scale batik-on-silk pieces that reimagine the unseen worlds beneath our feet — from aquifers and mycelial webs to endangered river life. Hustvedt’s unique process merges scientific insight with lyrical forms, resulting in vivid textile works that evoke both data and dream.
“My work is all about imagining the secrets that lie just beyond our senses,” Hustvedt said. “Through the flow of water media on natural fibers, I aim to bridge the gap between science and mythology, conscious and unconscious.”
The River of Life Gallery is located next to the surgical waiting room inside the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center and is open to the public 24 hours a day. Visitors are welcome at any time, and the space provides a calm, contemplative setting to experience the work.
The opening reception is Saturday, July 5, from 1 to 3 p.m. The public is invited to come meet the artist and enjoy light refreshments.
