Mission Able to celebrate ribbon cutting with community partners and nationwide support

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Mission Able is proud to announce the official ribbon cutting for its mobile fleet summer program, celebrating a powerful community partnership and the launch of a season of impact-driven service. The event will take place at the parking lot of First Baptist Church, located at 325 West McCarty Lane, on July 3 at 10 a.m. The public is invited to join the celebration.

Mission Able is a Christian organization that seeks to offer hope, vitality and dignity through collaboration between neighbors and coordination of resources to households or individuals with unmet needs. Mission Able tackles 245 community projects a year utilizing city funding, church partnerships and even microloans in order to assist struggling homeowners with their housing needs.

This special event marks the middle of an exciting summer of service and transformation across San Marcos and the surrounding areas. With generous donations and support from the Community Adaptation Pro- gram from the American Red Cross of Central and South Texas Region, Mc-Coy’s Building Supply, Texas on Mission and the San Marcos Lions Club, Mission Able is equipped to serve more families and communities than ever before.

“We are blown away by the generosity and shared vision from our partners,” said Monica Followell, Mission Able founder and executive director. “This isn’t just a ribbon cutting — it’s a moment that launches a movement.”

What makes this summer truly special is the collaborative effort coming in from across the country. Seven groups from various states are traveling to San Marcos to join the Mission Able Projects through a ministry called LeaderTreks. These teams will serve in hands-on ways — repairing homes, meeting needs and sharing hope — all while building life-changing relationships with the people of Central Texas. In addition to LeaderTreks, Mission Able is receiving more volunteers from the United Methodist Army and Texans On Mission.

“This is about more than projects — it’s about purpose,” Followell said. “Each volunteer group brings not just skills but hearts ready to serve. Together, we’re answering the call to love our neighbors in real, tangible ways.”

Come celebrate this exciting milestone with Mission Able, meet some of its volunteers and hear stories of what’s ahead this summer. Light refreshments will be provided.
