LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Dear Editor,
Excerpts and modifications of the speech to Congress by President Franklin D. Roosevelt after the attack on Pearl Harbor by Japan. Circa December 8, 1941. A parallel to recent events too similar to ignore.
YESTERDAY, June 22, 2025, a date which will live in infamy, the nation of Iran, was suddenly and deliberately attacked by the air forces of the United States of America. Iran was at peace with the United States and, at the solicitation of that nation, was in conversation with its Government and its Emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the region.
It will be recorded that the distance of Iran from the United States makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time, the United States Government deliberately sought to deceive Iran through false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.
Please review for yourselves the entirety of President Roosevelt’s speech and declaration of war to appreciate the parallels now taken by the United States towards Iran.
