Fire at Savages Hill Country Bar & Grill in its final days in operation
Shortly after the announcement of its closing, made on June 3 via the business’ Facebook page, Savage’s Hill Country Bar & Grill was ravaged by a fire in the early hours of June 27.
The fire was handled by the South Hays Fire Department with assistance from other area departments.
“San Marcos FD Engine 2 was dispatched to mutual aid Wimberly for a structure fire this morning at approximately 5:00 a.m. off of RR12,” according to a statement issued on the San Marcos Professional Firefighters Association Facebook page.
Scott Ridenour, Hays county ESD 3 / South Hays Fire Dept fire chief, said the fire is currently occurred is under active investigation by the Hays County Fire Marshal Office.
"I would like to acknowledge the large effort and response by our community partners this morning that included response from Wimberley fire, San Marcos fire, Canyon Lake fire, South Hays fire, Wimberly EMS, Hays County Sheriff’s and our other county partners," Ridenour said. "The response was a tremendous effort of resources to extinguish the fire and shuttle water to the scene. "
