Fire on North Comanche St. damages home, destroys property

CITY OF SAN MARCOS

There was a structure fire on 428 North Comanche Street at 12:47 p.m. on Thursday.

According to an official with the city of San Marcos, firefighters arrived to find a fire actively burning in the back of the building, which was the only structure involved.

“There was only one person in the building at the time, and they were able to safely evacuate,” according to the city official. “Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flame, and the fire was out in about 25 minutes.”

There were no injuries. The Fire Marshal’s Office is handling the investigation.

Dain Miller, a resident of the home, said all of the home’s roommates are all very grateful to the friendly and helpful first responders, who arrived quickly to the scene.

“The community of San Marcos has already been so caring and supportive,” Miller said. “Times like these remind me how amazing and special San Marcos truly is.”

Residents of the home lost many of their belongings and the house is unlivable for now.

“We have to replace food, clothes, mattresses, TVs, and many other items and also find places to stay until our house has been repaired,” Miller said.
