Well obviously, I plan to spend my Independence Day similarly to many of you, swimming and watching the sky light up with explosions. For swimming, there are plenty of places to go in San Marcos. Just make sure if you go to City Park and you are a resident, you have applied for your resident parking permit; that way you won’t get charged. The recent rains have also made Five
Mile Dam, located at 4440 Old
Stagecoach Road, swimmable again, if you are down for a ten to 15 minute drive.
As for my fireworks, I will be watching those that have permits set them off, as there is a firework ban inside the city limits otherwise. Check out the article on the front page for information about the city of San Marcos’ annual show.
There will also be a show at Roughhouse Brewing, located at 680 Oakwood Loop, that starts at 9 p.m. Have some craft beer, and enjoy the show.
Also, Wonder World Cave and
Adventure Park, located at 1000 Prospect Street, will be having a 4th of July party with live music by Zach Blue and $10 train rides from 12 to 3 p.m.
