Annual fireworks show to light up downtown San Marcos

LOCAL EVENTS

It is illegal to shoot off fireworks in the city limits of San Marcos, even sparklers and noisemakers, but fear not; there is an annual show that will light up the skies at 9:30 p.m. on Independence Day. The fireworks are shot from UFCU Stadium’s West Parking lot at Stadium Drive and Robbie Lane, so they can be seen anywhere downtown. A great place for lounging with a good view is on the lawn of the San Marcos Public Library.

“Grab your lawn chair, tune in to KTSW 89.9, and enjoy the fireworks show the city is putting on at 9:30 p.m.,” the city of San Marcos stated in a Facebook post. “It’s free, it’s safe, and it will save you from having your Roman Candles seized.”

The city reminded residents that there are to be no personal fireworks of any kind as well as no sale or possession of them, or one may face up to $2,000 in fines.
