SMHS & TXST FOOTBALL
The annual release of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine is a must have for any fan of both Texas High School Football and Texas College Football, giving the best analysis from across the state for more than 1,500 high schools and 40 colleges.
This year’s edition is an exciting one with both the San Marcos Rattlers and the Texas State Bobcats being predicted to have successful seasons.
RATTLERS PREDICTED TO FINISH SECOND
Despite their overall record for the past two seasons, DCTF is high on the Rattlers. The Rattlers are predicted to finish second in District 29 behind Cibolo Steele and ahead of both New Braunfels Canyon and Buda Johnson. San Marcos would represent District 29 as the No. 1 seed, setting up a potential showdown with Laredo Alexander of District 30 in the Bi-District round of the playoffs.
While San Marcos is predicted to have a good season, it was not the only recognition the Rattlers received in the magazine.
The duo of Henry Harris and Nick Henry were named to the Texas Top 300, which ranks the best Texas High School Football recruits. Harris was named to the best of the rest at the wide receiver position listed at 6-3 185 lbs. Henry was named to the best of the rest at the offensive lineman position listed at 6-7 295 lbs.
BOBCATS PREDICTED TO HAVE ANOTHER STRONG SEASON
Despite losing many starters from last season, DCTF still predicts the Bobcats to have another winning season. Texas State is predicted to finish the 2025 campaign with an 8-4 overall record and a 6-2 conference record with the Bobcats being in contention for the Sun Belt West Division title.
In addition to the prediction of a good season, a few of the Bobcats were named to the DCTF All-Texas College Team.
Senior running back Lincoln Pare was named second-team offense at running back while senior Kalil Alexander was named second-team defense at the utility position.
