When the River Speaks: A San Marcos Community Poetry and Art Publication

Who: Everyone has words. Some of us aren’t even aware of the words we have, yet. Together, we can celebrate creativity and resilience through the communal flow of words in this community publication, When the River Speaks. Our mission is to highlight talent in our community and celebrate the diversity of our voices.

To that end, we encourage writers of all experience levels and backgrounds to submit poems, sketches, and any other artwork.

Poems in languages other than English are also welcome. We want to hear from you! Submit work at submissions4wtrs@gmail. com or @whentheriverspeaks on Facebook or Instagram. Pick up a free copy of the publication at the San Marcos Public Library and participating local venues.

Altered Book Art + Zentangle | Monday, July 28, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Public Library Who: Create an altered book or work on Zentangles in this combo class!

A Zentangle is a miniature abstract work of art created by a collection of patterns. It is typically done on a 3.5” X 3.5 “paper” tile using a pencil and a black pen. The small size allows for a work of art that can be completed in a relatively short period of time. Instructor: Lana Daniel.
