Incoming junior Jack Vasquez was selected to play in the High Plains Shootout baseball series in Enid, Oklahoma which selects the top sophomore and junior baseball players from Texas to compete against teams from Oklahoma and Kansas, playing for Team Navy.
Vasquez finished his sophomore season with an ERA of 0.74 along with a 8-2 overall record on the mound. Vasquez struck out 85 batters and held opposing offenses to a .143 batting average.
On offense, Vasquez led the team in hits [33] and RBIs [18] while maintaining a batting average of .440.
Vasquez was named the District 29 MVP at the end of the season while also ranking in the Top 40 in Class 6A for ERA, strikeouts and wins.
The series is scheduled to start Monday and will last through Wednesday. Vasquez is scheduled to pitch on Wednesday against the Oklahoma Red team.
