Y’all, it’s my birthday week, so it’s time to celebrate San Marcos-style. We’ll start on Friday when my son and his partner take me out to dinner at the brand-new Tumble22. Since my son and I lived in Seoul, we’re on a constant quest to find legit Korean fried chicken. I’m happy to report Tumble22 is the real deal: Savory, spicy, sweet and crispy. Plus the staff is pleasant and attentive, too. On Saturday, the whole family will work up an appetite with a hike on the Purgatory Trails, before having birthday dinner at Italian Garden. Finally, on Sunday, I’m going to run until I get tired (usually about five miles) and then indulge in a pain au chocolat from Butter Sweet Bakery. It’s right across from the Outlets, and they have amazing fresh-baked pastries every day. It’s the sweetest conclusion imaginable to this happy birthday weekend.
