The Just For Fun parade is a San Marcos staple occurring annually since 1978, when Ron Aiken thought there should be a parade that was — as the name entails — just for fun and no other reason. It will be held the fourth Saturday in April, which will be the 49th annual Just For Fun parade. Over the years, the permitting prices have gone up, and the planning organization, the Just For Fun Club, is requesting the public’s help footing the bill. Showdown, the bar and restaurant located at 207 East Hutchison Street, has a donation jar for that very purpose. Stop by anytime from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to help contribute to San Marcos having some good old fashioned fun. There will also be fundraising events occurring in the future — time and date to be determined.
