RAILROAD MAINTENANCE

City of San Marcos crews completed the required railroad safety compliance work to address deficiencies that have caused noise disruptions at some train crossings in San Marcos. Last week, Union Pacific Railroad conducted the final inspection, and city staff have submitted the required Notice of Establishment. Once UPRR reviews and executes the NOE, the quiet zones will be formally reinstated. While a timeframe has not been provided, the city expects quiet zones could be reinstated by the end of August.
