The Big SMAL show now on display at The Price Center

A complex exhibition of artwork in many diverse mediums is on display through Aug. 23 at The Price Center, located at 222 W San Antonio Street.

Nancy Brown, SMAC director, said the exhibit is showcasing 70 unique works by 60 talented local artists.

“This special event not only celebrates the creativity and diversity within our art community but also offers members a valuable opportunity to share their work with the public, connect with fellow artists and gain professional exhibition experience,” Brown said. “The exhibition remains on display through most of August and all are invited. Please also join us for a closing reception on August 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Price Center.”

This is an opportunity for members of the San Marcos Art League to showcase their talents in the beautiful setting surrounding the historic 1910 former sanctuary.

Clay DeStefano, Price Center executive director said that unlike other shows at the center, this show has no formal theme, which he particularly enjoys.

“The result is always a surprising mix of high-quality work that somehow comes together through color, texture, medium, or subject to create an especially pleasing exhibit,” DeStefano said. “This show runs the gambit from 3-D sculpture and mixed media to traditional subjects and media like landscapes and portraits rendered in pen and ink, paint and photography.”

The Price Center is open Wednesday to Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visit soon and enjoy the creative talents of over 60 artworks from 59 local artists, then join them for the closing reception on Aug. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m.
