With hearts full of compassion and hands ready to serve, several volunteers from PromiseLand San Marcos stepped out into the community for National Serve Day on Saturday, July 12 making a powerful impact across the city.
From early morning, teams gathered in matching Serve Day shirts and a spirit of unity, launching into neighborhoods, parks and local outreach centers with one mission: to love their neighbors through practical acts of service. Volunteers tackled installation, yard cleanups, delivering groceries, visiting the elderly and spending time with underserved families, to name a few.
Children and youth also took part in the day, learning the value of giving back and becoming the hands and feet of Christ alongside their families.
“Watching our younger generation serve with joy and purpose was one of the highlights of the day,” said Lucy Gonzalez, Local Missions Pastor. “It’s amazing to see hearts come alive when we step outside our comfort zones to love people well.”
As the sun set on National Serve Day, the impact continued — measured not just in projects completed but in relationships strengthened, hope renewed and love poured out in every corner of San Marcos.
For PromiseLand San Marcos, Serve Day may be marked on the calendar once a year, but serving is a way of life.
