22 former and current Texas State graduate students awarded PEO International Peace Scholarships

A record 22 current and former Texas State University graduate students have been awarded the Philanthropic Educational Organization International Peace Scholarship for 2025-2026.

This scholarship provides up to $12,500 per year for women from other countries who are pursuing graduate studies in the United States, and international students may apply for a one-time renewal to receive up to $25,000 in total to support their graduate degrees.

This year’s class of 11 new recipients and 11 renewals includes the first-ever awardee from the United Kingdom. Graduate programs represented for the first time this year include biology and professional counseling.

The 11 recipients are:

• a doctoral geography student from Brazil

• a master’s civil engineering student from Bangladesh 

• a master’s professional counseling student from the United Kingdom

• a doctoral Materials Science, Engineering and Commercialization student from India

• a doctoral postsecondary student success student from Iran

• a doctoral postsecondary student success student from Iran

• a doctoral developmental education student from Bangladesh

• a master’s biology student from Iran

• a doctoral postsecondary student success student from Vietnam

• a doctoral applied anthropology student from Brazil

• a doctoral developmental education student from Bangladesh 

 

This year’s 11 renewal recipients are:

• a doctoral aquatic resources and integrative biology student from Nepal

• a doctoral geography student from Nepal

• a doctoral aquatic resources and integrative biology student from Colombia 

• a doctoral physical therapy student from Mexico

• a doctoral geography student from Iran

• a M.S. in integrated agricultural sciences from Bangladesh

• a doctoral developmental education student from Iran

• a doctoral developmental education student from Iran

• a doctoral applied anthropology student from Germany

• a doctoral Materials Science, Engineering and Commercialization student from Bangladesh

• a doctoral geographic information science student from China 

“Most remarkably, given that there were 217 scholarships awarded this year, TXST’s awardees comprise approximately 10% of the total recipients for this award in 2025-2026,” said Andrea Golato, dean of The Graduate College and professor of German. “In total, 101 Texas State graduate students and graduate alumni have received this scholarship using the advising support services provided by The Graduate College’s external funding coordinators, with a 100% success rate among renewal applicants.”
